can you trade options on a funded account?

Hey everyone, I’m new to trading and wondering if it’s possible to start trading options as soon as you have a funded account, or are there additional requirements? Also, do brokers have specific rules or minimum balances for options trading? Any advice would be appreciated!

Yes, you can trade options on a funded account, but there are conditions:
  • The account must be approved for options trading by your broker.
  • You’ll need to complete an options application, disclosing experience, income, and risk tolerance.
  • Brokers assign trading levels—higher-risk strategies (like selling naked calls) require higher levels and more capital.
Simply funding the account isn’t enough—you must be approved for the right level of options access.

If you're looking to dive into options trading without risking your own capital, a funded options trading account could be your ticket to success. These accounts allow you to trade with money provided by a firm, giving you the chance to hone your skills and potentially earn profits without the initial financial burden.

Yes, you can trade options on a funded account, but it depends on the proprietary trading firm’s policies. Some firms, like TradeFundrr, allow options trading after passing their evaluation process, offering traders access to capital without risking personal funds . However, many well-known prop firms, such as FTMO and Topstep, primarily focus on futures and forex trading and may not support options trading . If you're interested in trading options with a funded account, it's essential to research and select a firm that explicitly supports options trading
