I’m trying to get in touch with the IRS regarding some tax questions, but I’m not sure how to go about it. I’ve heard it can be difficult to reach an actual person.

Call the IRS's main number for individuals at 1-800-829-1040 to talk to a representative. A lengthy automatic menu is to be expected. To enable the representative assist you effectively, prepare your tax return information, filing status, and Social Security number.

To speak with someone at the IRS, call their main helpline at 1-800-829-1040. Be prepared with your personal information, tax details, and documents. Wait times may vary, so calling early in the day is recommended.

You can talk to a real person at the IRS by calling 1-800-829-1040. When choosing the automated system, follow the prompts careful selecting ones of the "individual income tax" and then "speak to a representative." Avoid calling after nine a.m. to get a short wait time, or on Fridays. Wait times are at their lowest in the morning or during weekdays.

To speak to someone at the IRS, call 1-800-829-1040 (individuals) or 1-800-829-4933 (businesses) and follow the prompts to reach a representative.
