I’ve been looking into using TurboTax this tax season and I’m wondering — Is turbotax free? I know there’s a “Free Edition” but I’m not sure how it works, who qualifies, and when you might end up getting charged.
Yes — the TurboTax Free Edition is truly free only if you have a very simple tax return (just Form 1040 with W-2 income, standard deduction, and maybe a few basic credits). TurboTax+1
If you have more-complex income, itemize, have self-employment, rental income or additional schedules, you’ll likely need to pay.
