What Is an Auditor?, and what are their main responsibilities? I know they review financial statements, but do they also check for fraud or just accuracy and compliance? Would love to understand the different types of auditors and what qualifications they usually need.

A certified expert designated to carry out an impartial analysis of an organization's financial documentation and activities is known as an auditor. Their primary responsibility is to express an opinion regarding the financial statements' fairness and compliance with applicable laws.

An auditor is a professional who examines and verifies financial records to ensure accuracy, compliance with laws and standards, and to provide an independent opinion on an organization’s financial statements.

Auditing evidence is the information auditors collect to determine whether financial statements are accurate and fair. It can include documents, records, confirmations, observations, and analytical data. Auditors gather it through inspection, inquiries, confirmations, and testing. Reliable evidence usually comes from independent sources, while sufficient evidence depends on the auditor’s judgment and the risk level of the area being audited.
