What is blockchain?

I’ve been hearing a lot about blockchain in cryptocurrency and finance discussions. Can someone explain what blockchain actually is and how it works? Is it only used for crypto like Bitcoin, or are there other real-world uses of blockchain technology?

Blockchain is a cryptographic register that stores transactions in a network of computers that is decentralized. Rather than gathering data in a single repository, the information is collected in blocks and connected in an encrypted chain. The system is transparent and hardly manipulable as each block is checked by the network. Digital currencies such as Bitcoin are run by blockchain technology which is also applicable in finance, supply chains, and safe data management.

Blockchain is a digital system that records transactions in a chain of blocks stored across many computers. Each block contains data, a timestamp, and a link to the previous block, making the records secure and difficult to change.

It is used in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, but blockchain also has other uses such as supply chain tracking, digital identity verification, smart contracts, and secure record keeping in industries like finance, healthcare, and logistics.

Blockchain is a decentralized digital ledger that records transactions across multiple computers securely. Each block contains transaction data linked to previous blocks, making it tamper-resistant. It’s commonly used in cryptocurrencies, supply chains, and smart contracts, ensuring transparency, security, and trust without a central authority managing or verifying the data.
