Who pays tax on a GST?

I’m a bit confused about how GST works. When I buy something, I see GST added to the bill. Does that mean the buyer pays the tax, or is the seller responsible for it?

The consumer pays the tax on GST, as it is added to the price of goods and services. However, businesses collect the GST from customers and remit it to the government. Businesses also may claim input tax credits on GST paid for business-related purchases.

Under GST (Goods and Services Tax), the end consumer ultimately bears the tax burden. Businesses collect and remit GST to the government but can claim input tax credits to avoid double taxation.
