Who Was Harry Dexter White?

I recently came across the name Harry Dexter White in an article about U.S. economic history, but I don’t know much about him. Who was he, and what role did he play in shaping U.S. or global financial policies?


I also read that there were some controversies around him—can someone explain what those were?
