Are political donations tax deductible for individuals?

I’m doing tax planning and wondering are political donations tax deductible or if there are any exceptions.

For individuals, contributions made to political candidates, parties, or political action committees (PACs) are generally not tax-deductible. The IRS classifies these as personal expenses rather than charitable contributions. While donations to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations are deductible, political campaign gifts do not qualify. It is always best to keep records of your donations, but do not expect them to lower your federal tax bill.

No — political donations are not tax-deductible for individuals in the U.S., even if they’re made to candidates, parties, or political action committees (PACs).
