I need some guidance on completing my Self Assessment tax return. I’m a bit confused about where to start and what documents I need. Do I have to register first? What forms should I fill, and is it better to do it online or on paper?

Also, I heard there are services that can help with this—has anyone used something like AccountingByte’s Tax Return Services? Would love to know if it’s worth getting professional help, especially to avoid mistakes and penalties.

Apply with the taxman (e.g. HMRC) and obtain your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR). Assemble all the income and expense records. Complete the primary form (SA100) and any additional pages required on-line and submit and make payment of the calculated tax before the deadline.

To complete a self-assessment tax return, register with your tax authority, gather income and expense records, fill out the return online or on paper, check for allowances and deductions, submit by the deadline, and pay any tax owed.

In order to file a Self Assessment tax return, you need to register with HMRC on the internet, collect records of your income and expenses, get into your HMRC account and fill in the various forms, review your entries, and file the tax return before the due date and pay any tax owed.

To complete a Self Assessment tax return, register with HMRC, gather income and expense records, fill out the online or paper form accurately, review details, and submit it before the deadline to avoid penalties.

To complete a self-assessment tax return, register with HMRC online, log in using your Government Gateway ID, and fill in income, expenses, and deductions. Submit the return before the deadline (31st January for online). Keep documents like P60s, invoices, and receipts ready. Payment of owed tax must also be made by the same deadline.
