How do I endorse a cheque?

You endorse a cheque when you put your signature on the back of it in the endorsement area. Make sure your signature matches the name on the front of the cheque. If you want to, you can write For deposit only to restrict the use of the cheque. Then, you simply have to deposit or cash it according to the rules of your bank.

To endorse a cheque, sign your name on the back where indicated. For deposit only, write “For Deposit Only” above your signature. Then present it to your bank or use a mobile deposit app.

To endorse a cheque, turn it over and sign your name on the back in the endorsement area, making sure the signature matches the name on the front of the cheque. If you’re depositing it into your bank account, you can simply sign it or write “For deposit only” along with your account number for extra security. If you’re transferring it to someone else, write “Pay to the order of” followed by that person’s name, then sign below it.
