How does dedollarization impact the global economy?

There’s increasing talk about dedollarization, especially among developing economies and trade alliances. What does this actually mean in practice, and could it weaken the US dollar’s role in international trade over time?

Dedollarization refers to countries reducing their reliance on the US dollar in trade and reserves by using other currencies. It can impact the global economy by weakening the dollar’s dominance in international transactions, encouraging regional currencies, and shifting financial power among nations, though the US dollar still remains the world’s primary reserve currency for now.

Dedollarization refers to the minimization of the use of the U.S dollar in international trade and finance. It is able to rebalance power in the international economy due to its promotion of other currencies as trade and reserve currencies. This can undermine dollar hegemony, currency competition and redefine financial partnerships. Nonetheless, dollar is strong because of the volume and the stability of the U.S economy.
