I’m trying to understand is there GST on trading cards when buying or selling them. Are trading cards considered goods under GST, and what tax rate applies to them? Also, does GST differ for personal collections vs business sales, and are there any exemptions or special rules for collectors or resellers?

"I'm no expert, but from what I've researched, GST applies to trading cards if you're buying or selling them for profit. If it's a hobby, like collecting cards for fun, it's likely exempt. But if you're reselling them, you'll need to report those sales on your tax return. Anyone else have more insight on this?"

Yes, GST usually applies to trading cards in India because they are treated as physical goods (like printed or collectible items).

👉 Typical GST rate: around 12%–18% depending on classification (similar to printed/stationery items).

✔️ So, when you buy or sell trading cards, GST is generally included in the price.

Yes, trading cards in India are subject to GST. They are generally classified under “collectible items” or “printed cards,” attracting GST at a rate of 18%. Rates may vary slightly based on type and commercial usage.
