I would like a clear tally definition. Does tally only refer to counting numbers, or can it also mean something matches or agrees?

It doesn’t just mean counting numbers 😊 A tally can be a count or total, but it also means things match or agree like when your expenses tally with your budget.

Tally means to count, record, or keep track of something, usually by making marks or adding numbers. It can be used as a verb (e.g., “to tally the votes”) or as a noun (e.g., “the final tally”). The word can also refer to accounting software like Tally, which is widely used by businesses to manage financial records, invoices, and taxes.

Tally means to count, record, or keep track of numbers, items, or scores systematically. It can also refer to a mark or score representing a total. In business, Tally is a popular accounting software for managing finances efficiently.
