I’m looking for updated information on the Tax Card 2025-26 and the latest income tax slabs for this financial year. Have there been any major changes in rebate limits, deductions, or standard exemptions under the new tax regime? It would be great if someone could share a clear comparison between FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26, especially for salaried taxpayers and small businesses.

For FY 2025-26, the basic exemption increases to ₹4 lakh, with a rebate of ₹60,000 and a standard deduction of ₹75,000. No major old-regime changes.

For FY 2025–2026, the New Tax Regime (default) has undergone significant change:

Up to ₹4 lakh is tax-free.

New Slabs: A number of new slabs have been introduced, with the highest 30% rate currently starting at ₹24 lakh.

Rebate: Up to ₹12 lakh gross income (or ₹12.75 lakh for salaried individuals), tax liability is essentially zero.

For FY 2025-26, the new income tax regime offers zero tax on income up to ₹4 lakh and higher rebates up to ₹12 lakh. Slabs now range from 5% to 30% as income increases beyond ₹4 lakh. The old regime remains unchanged, giving taxpayers the choice between both systems.

New Regime (default):

₹0–3 lakh → 0%
₹3–6 lakh → 5%
₹6–9 lakh → 10%
₹9–12 lakh → 15%
₹12–15 lakh → 20%
₹15 lakh+ → 30%

The old regime that has deductions is a possibility.

For 2025–26, India’s income tax slabs under the new regime remain largely unchanged, offering lower rates with fewer deductions. Basic exemption continues at ₹3 lakh. Taxpayers can choose between old and new regimes. Minor updates include simplified rebate structures and increased standard deductions for salaried individuals, improving post-tax income flexibility and transparency.
