What exactly are tax havens and why do people use them? Are tax havens legal for businesses and individuals? How do tax havens impact taxes and reporting requirements?

They can be controversial since they can be used to avoid or evade taxes, protect assets or manage international finances but are often used to reduce their tax liabilities.
 
A tax haven is an area that provides a foreigner with minimal or no tax treatment to individuals and companies. Specific characteristics are: anonymity, little transparency, and no suitability of local residence or business operations. These are Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Switzerland.
