What are penny rim errors and are they valuable?

I recently found a coin that looks a bit unusual and started reading about penny rim errors. What exactly are penny rim errors, and do they have any real value for collectors?

Penny rim errors are minting mistakes affecting a coin’s edge, like missing or distorted rims. Minor errors have low value, while rare, dramatic examples can be worth significantly more.

Penny rim errors are minting mistakes where the edge (rim) of a penny is damaged, misformed, or improperly struck during production. This can include weak rims, double rims, or irregular edges caused by pressure or die issues at the mint. Their value depends on the severity and rarity of the error. Minor rim defects are usually worth little more than face value, but clearly visible or unusual errors on older or rare pennies can be more valuable to collectors. In general, condition, rarity, and demand determine how much they are worth.

Penny rim errors happen when the edge of the coin isn’t formed right during minting, like being off-center or flattened, and yeah some can be worth a decent amount depending on how rare or noticeable they are, I’d definitely get yours checked if it looks unusual
