What does pending mean on bank account transactions?

When checking my bank statement, I sometimes see payments marked as pending. What does pending mean on bank account activity? Does the money already leave the account, or is the bank still processing the transaction?

It just means the transaction is still being processed by the bank. The amount is usually temporarily held from your balance, but it hasn’t fully left your account until the payment is finalized.

Pending on bank account transactions means the payment has been authorized but has not been fully processed or finalized by the bank yet. The amount may be temporarily held from your balance while the bank completes verification and settlement. Once the process finishes, the transaction will change from pending to completed or posted.

Waiting on a bank account transaction implies that the payment has been sanctioned but has not been entirely processed or completed by the bank. The sum can be provisionally charged against your balance. After verification and processing of the bank, the status of the transaction turns to posted or completed.

A pending bank transaction implies that the request to make payments is received by the bank but is yet to be closed. The money might show as deducted to your available balance, but the processing and confirmation of the transaction are yet to be processed.

An outstanding bank transfer implies that the bank is yet to make the payment. It normally happens after you buy something, withdraw or transfer some money. Transaction is approved and not settled and after the bank processes it, it will change its pending status to completed or posted transaction.
