Hi all, I’m trying to better understand online safety. Can someone explain what is a phishing scam in simple terms? I’ve heard about fake emails and links, but I’m not sure how it all works.

Be cautious of phishing scams that often come via email or phone calls. Legitimate companies won't ask for sensitive info over the phone or via unsecured links. Verify the sender's email address and hover over links before clicking. If unsure, contact the company directly to confirm authenticity.

A phishing attack is an Internet-based form of fraud, in which cyber criminals deceive individuals into exposed information, such as passwords, credit cards, personal data, and so on. It is usually the case of spurious emails, messages, or websites that seem to be sent by reputable bodies, such as PayPal or Amazon. The user is encouraged to follow links or provide details that enable fraudsters to steal data or gain access to accounts.

A phishing scam is a type of online fraud where attackers pretend to be a trusted source (like a bank or popular company) to trick you into sharing sensitive information such as passwords, credit card details, or OTPs. They often use fake emails, messages, or websites that look real. The goal is to steal your data or money, so always verify links and avoid sharing personal information with unknown sources.

A phishing scam is a cyberattack where criminals impersonate trusted sources to trick people into revealing sensitive information like passwords or bank details.
