I often hear about what a tax ID number is, especially when starting a business or filing taxes. From what I know, it’s a unique identification number used by tax authorities to track tax obligations. Businesses often use an Employer Identification Number (EIN), while individuals may use a Social Security Number. Can someone explain when a tax ID number is required?
