What is agentic AI?

I’ve been hearing a lot about Agentic AI lately, especially in tech and business discussions, but I’m not entirely sure what it means.

From what I understand, Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that can act autonomously, make decisions, and take actions toward specific goals — not just respond to inputs like traditional AI models.

The concept of agentic AI is described as artificial intelligence systems that can make autonomous decisions and work towards a goal and can plan, reason, and act without necessarily needing human intervention.

An agentic AI refers to the type of AI system which not merely reacts to commands, but is capable of planning, making decisions and taking action based on a goal with little or no human oversight. It is more autonomous and goal-driven, as opposed to a conventional machine learning or generative AI.
