I came across the term commonwealth of massachusetts excise tax while looking at vehicle registration information. Can someone explain what this tax is for and who needs to pay it? Is it only related to cars or does it apply to other things as well?

In the Massachusetts, it is imposed by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Owners of vehicles are taxed, which depends on the value of the vehicle and the model year.
