Where do i find my agi on my tax return

I’m trying to locate my Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on my tax return but not sure exactly where to look. I filed using the standard IRS Form 1040 — does anyone know which line shows the AGI? Also, is it the same for both federal and state returns? Any help would be appreciated!

Your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is your total income minus certain adjustments (like IRA contributions or student loan interest).


On the IRS Form 1040, it’s found on line 11—this number is important because it’s used to determine your eligibility for many tax credits and deductions.


For state returns, most states begin their calculations with your federal AGI, but it may appear on a different line since each state’s form looks a bit different.
