Hello, all, I would like to ask, Who pays the most taxes pie chart. I have heard some figures bandied about but it is rather bewildering. Is anyone holding a pie chart or a plain breakdown that defines the distribution of taxes between individuals, corporations and others? Thanks!

The “Who Pays the Most Taxes” pie chart shows that the top 1% of earners contribute the largest share of federal income taxes, followed by the next 9%, while the bottom 90% pay a smaller portion relative to their income.

In the U.S., the top 5% of earners pay about 61% of income taxes, contributing over $1.3 trillion in 2022, making them the highest tax contributors by far.

A “Who pays the most taxes” pie chart usually shows that the top income earners contribute the largest share of federal taxes, with the highest brackets paying significantly more, while middle- and lower-income groups contribute proportionally less overall.

In a typical tax pie chart, the largest share of taxes comes from individual income tax payers, especially high-income earners. Next are corporate taxes, followed by payroll taxes (for Social Security and Medicare). The distribution varies by country, but in the U.S., individuals contribute the majority of federal revenue through income tax and payroll contributions.
