I am attempting to learn the organizational structure of businesses. Who reports to the CFO? I suppose it has got finance-related jobs, but I do not know what exactly, such as controllers, treasury managers, or accounting heads.
The CFO normally manages all the functions relating to finance. The controller, the treasury manager, the accounting heads, the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) team, and leaders of the risk management or investor relations teams are people that normally report to the CFO. All of them assist in the management of the finances, budget and strategy of the company.
The CFO (Chief Financial Officer) oversees the finance function, so typically the finance director, accounting manager, controller, treasury manager, financial planning & analysis team, risk manager, and investor relations manager report to the CFO.
The most important direct reports to the CFO would be the Controller (or Chief Accounting Officer), the Treasurer, and the VP or Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
The Chief Financial Officer generally supervises the activities of the Controller, Treasurer, and Heads of Internal Audit, Finance, and Business Intelligence for the company. This is as well as overseeing other specialists finance and managerial personnel responsible for accounts payable and receivables, budget analysts, and financial analysts.
