I’ve been reviewing my payroll and budgeting plans lately. Could you explain how many pay periods there are in a year and how weekly, biweekly, and monthly pay schedules differ?

Understand the reasons behind your checking that stuff twice, of course understand it, budgeting, Rapid calculation: The number of checks per year: weekly = 52, biweekly = 26 (in some cases, 27), monthly = 12. They all simply alter the frequency at which the money is received and not the total amount that you receive.

It is based on the payment schedule: 52-weekly, 26-biweekly, 24-semi-monthly and 12-monthly pay periods annually.

Pay periods per year will be determined by frequency of payment. Weekly: 52 pay periods. Biweekly: 26 (and 27 in the exception years). Semimonthly: 24. Monthly: 12. Depending on labor laws and payroll practices, employers select a schedule and hence the exact figure may differ.
