Hey everyone,
I’m trying to figure out the proper way to report suspected tax fraud, but the information online feels a little scattered. Has anyone here actually gone through the process? What’s the correct way to report it, and do you need solid proof beforehand, or just reasonable suspicion? Also, is it possible to report tax fraud anonymously?

You can also report tax fraud to the IRS by submitting Form 3949-A online or by mail, calling the IRS fraud hotline, or using the whistleblower program for major cases. Do not include personal data unless it is specifically requested.

To report tax fraud, collect any evidence and contact your country’s tax authority. In the U.S., you can report it to the IRS by filling Form 3949-A and mailing it. You can report anonymously, but providing details helps investigation. If outside the U.S., visit your local tax department website for the correct reporting method.

To report suspected tax fraud in the United States, contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) using their official whistleblower or fraud hotline or submit Form 3949-A online or by mail. Provide as much detail as possible including names, tax-year(s), nature of fraud and supporting evidence. The IRS reviews submissions and may follow up for verification.

In the U.S., tax fraud is reported using IRS Form 3949-A, and must include the details of the suspected fraud. The form can be sent through mail or fax to the IRS. Reports can be anonymous. Examples of tax frauds are false reporting of income, bogus deductions or offshore accounts.

In order to report fraud in taxes, one needs to file an IRS Form 3949-A to report the suspected tax violation by individual or business. It can be filled and posted or reported anonymously online. Present information such as names, amounts and evidence to facilitate the investigation of the IRS.
