Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could clarify this for me—what exactly is considered the “supreme law of the land” in the United States? Is it the Constitution, or are there other laws that could take precedence? I’d really appreciate a clear explanation. Thanks!

The highest authority of law in the United States is the Constitution. It defines the structure of the federal government, defines the rights of the citizens and has precedence over all other laws. Every judge and official is supposed to abide by it and any law that contradicts it is invalid.

The United States Constitution is the supreme law of law. It establishes the form of the federal government, determines the rights of the citizens and is superior to all other acts of legislation. All the judges and the officials are expected to follow it and any law that conflicts with it is invalid.

The U.S. Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land in United States. It supersedes any state law and government activity. It should be followed by all laws, officials, and courts and the rule of law must be observed as well as the rights of citizens are guarded.

The supreme law of the land in the United States is the Constitution, which establishes the framework of government, defines citizens’ rights, and overrides any conflicting state or federal laws.
